Revel in the moment..

In my last post (see here ) I spoke about how it is ok to feel all of your feelings.. on a related note it is also important to "practice selfcare".. I know.. I know.. I bet the majority of you just sighed and rolled your eyes.. selfcare is such a cliché buzzword these days.. be that as it may.. it is also extremely true.. and frankly.. the key to succuss..

It is important to have hobbies.. to have things you love to do.. things that bring you joy.. it is equally important to actually do those things.. it does not mean a thing to have all the hobbies in the world if you never actually partake in them..

In my last post I spoke about it being ok to feel sad.. or depressed.. or anxious.. or any of those "negative" emotions.. and I meant every word of it.. however.. it is not ok to just sit there and fester in those negative emotions.. you feel them.. you process them.. but then you move forward.. it is unhealthy to sit in a negative place.. this.. is where self care comes in..

Despite being a fancy buzzword.. selfcare is an actual act.. you need to do the thing you love once you have identified what it is.. it may be reading for leisure.. or drawing.. or sitting in a breeze sipping some warm tea.. or.. in my case playing video games.. we all have activities that allow us to just check out.. not focus on the stresses.. the pressures.. the anxieties of life.. and it is crucial to your overall health.. happiness.. and well being to ensure you spend a healthy amount of time engaging in those activities.. you may even have multiple activities you enjoy engaging in..

Personally.. as I mentioned above.. I love playing video games.. being lost in an imaginary world.. just living a moment without the cares of the world.. whether it is playing madden and living the dream of building a Super Bowl dynasty for my beloved Detroit Lions.. or playing State of Decay 2 and doing my little part to rebuild society after/during a zombie apocalypse.. I enjoy.. being able to be impactful.. to.. help make the world a better place.. even if it is in a fictitious world..

Additionally I do love to read.. (mostly fiction.. I am sensing a theme here..) especially books I have already read.. (there is comfort in the familiar..) and I enjoy watching television shows and movies.. (generally ones I have already seen.. again.. comfort in the familiar.. which I know is a sign of severe trauma.. no secret here I have been exposed to my fair share of it over the course of my 41.5 years of life..)

So.. whatever it is for you.. make sure you find your passion.. and engage in it when you are in those valleys.. when you have those low moments.. despite being cliché.. selfcare is important.. and incredibly valuable..

It really is ok..

to feel whatever it is you are feeling right now.. In today's world there is such an aversion to feeling feelings.. but.. it really is ok...

Quick thought of the day..

You should be able to play as an offensive lineman in Madden.. you can play as literally every other position.. but O-Line.. come on...
